Zip Code:
Product Description
This selection of both large and small fruited annual gourd varieties are decorative and useful. Colorful small fruited types make ideal table decorations and if properly dried, will last indefinitely. Large fruited varieties are also included. Names are descriptive of their shapes and uses.
Sow 5 seeds evenly spaced in hills, 3 inches high and 12 inches across. Young vines should have a fence, trellis or heavy cord on which to climb. When young vines are about 8 inches, thin to 3 plants in each hill. Does not transplant well.
To dry gourds, wait until fruit is fully developed and hard enough to pick from the vines. Pick before frost. To preserve, avoid bruising and wash thoroughly. Store in a dry, well ventilated place until thoroughly dried out and hard. Can be waxed or painted.
