Kids love to have sleepover parties. They are an important part of bonding with your friends and learning to be more independent. As the parent it is important to let the kids do most of the planning for the night so that they can spend it in a fun way but it is good to have a few suggestion at the ready as well.
Here are five fun activities kids could participate in at a sleepover party.
1. Prepare Some Games
Make sure that you have some great board or video games available for the kids to play. This is something that they themselves most likely want to do as well and it is a nice activity for a sleepover.
Just make sure they don’t play the whole night and that if they play console or video games, all of them get to play equally.
2. Spa Treatment
This is an especially good idea for girls but you can also organise a fun pampering for boys too. For example, try using some washable hair colour for the boys and give them a new hair-do.
As for the girls you could give them a homemade facial treatment and a simple manicure. If they are old enough to try some makeup you could let them use your older makeup items and create a look for themselves. It is a great way to pamper and feel like a princess.
3. Bake Something
It is also a good idea to get the children baking. Not only does this mean that you have to have fewer sweets and candies ready for them, but it is often also something fun that kids like doing.
Try to select a recipe that is really delicious and sweet because sleepovers are all about having fun and eating snacks and sweets. For example, bake chewy chocolate cookies or if you’re going for something salty you could make your own nacho platter with a few delicious dips.
4. Film A Music Video
Almost all kids are usually into music and they probably have started idolising singers and bands at this stage. Therefore doing something musical will not only be fun but it can also be very beneficial to them.
Perhaps they could film their own music video or organise a little concert . You can provide them with a few different instruments and there are plenty of websites with an exciting saxophone lesson for example, for making the show a little bit more interesting and different.
5. Watch A Movie
The best way to get the kids to calm down at night is to suggest a movie for them to watch. Now it isn’t necessary to force the kids to sleep. You can just suggest a time for the movie and once you dim the lights and get them to go under blankets in front of the telly they usually fall asleep soon after.
There are a lot of great children’s movies to choose from and even internet TV services like Netflix have a good selection to consider. Just make sure that it isn’t anything the kids aren’t allowed to watch and stay close by in case they get scared.
Hannah loves organising activities for the kids and she is really involved in helping out at the local youth club as well. She is a big fan of baking and thinks it is important to teach children to cook from an early on.
