No movie about Asia, or China in particular, is complete without shots of bamboo and all of the buildings made out of bamboo. It is one of the most prevalent plants on Earth, and for centuries it has been used to make durable and affordable products all throughout Asia. The United States has been slower to pick on the use of bamboo as a building material, but there are still many uses for bamboo in the home. With bamboo products you will get home improvements that are comparatively cheap, but will give your home a unique appearance.
A traditional cotton or wool throw rug is a part of most home decorating schemes. These rugs add a bit of color to the room and let you express creativity in your design. While a throw rug is great for decoration, they are a horrible mess to deal with when they get dirty. The rugs either have to be dry cleaned or they require a special wash and dry cycle, if they can be machine washed or dried at all. Foot traffic causes the rug to wear, and over time the rug begins to look ragged. You can solve this problem with a bamboo rug. Because of their strength and construction, the rug can be wiped off with a towel or even mopped, just like you would your floor. They never fade, and there is little chance that normal traffic will ever damage the materials. Bamboo rugs are built to last, and they are a great way to add a touch of sophistication to a room.
Vinyl blinds are the norm in the United States, if the home does not have curtains. These blinds are easy to install and they are usually very cheap, but the environmental impact of creating vinyl is horrendous. Vinyl is hard to recycle and does not decompose in a landfill, so they are a huge detriment to the environment. Bamboo, on the other hand, is an all natural substance. It grows very rapidly, so whenever bamboo is harvested for construction it replaces itself very quickly. Bamboo blinds are very light weight, and the look of these blinds is something that will make your room look very unique. They come in enough colors and styles that you are sure to find a set of blinds that is perfect for the room that you have in mind.
Bamboo fencing is far superior to wooden fencing when it comes to most small jobs. Unlike wood, which requires holes to be dug and a large number of support posts to keep the fence secure, bamboo fencing can simply be rolled out and installed in minutes. This makes bamboo perfect for small privacy fences or to set off one area of the yard from another, such as creating an outdoor bar on the back porch. The bamboo gives the area a tropical feel and will set your yard apart from your friends and neighbors. When you are tired of the bamboo fence, all you have to do is roll it back up and put it away; it does not require the same kind of demolition that a wooden fence requires when you want to pull it down.
Bamboo products have come a long way in the last few decades, and it is becoming more accepted to use bamboo in the home. With bamboo products you will be able to give your home a unique look that will be the envy of your friends and neighbors.
