Some people have the idea that the small details of a wedding won’t matter five years down the road. “I couldn’t even tell you what type of flower she had,” you’ve probably heard people say, or “I don’t remember what the wedding’s colors were.” That’s because those are wedding clichés that you’re bound to see at every ceremony regardless – you can have really memorable details about your wedding that both make the event stand out and make the guests feel appreciated for coming (after all, you’ve probably got some folks who have to make a road trip, and it’s never an easy day for mom and dad!). Here are a few ways you can make the day as special for your guests as it is for you.
A Welcome Treat
Make a list of all the guests that need to travel and what hotels they’ll be staying in. Then, make them a little wedding goodie package for them for when they arrive. Include some snacks, something for the kids (if there are any), some Advil, a toothbrush – whatever they might need for their stay. To make it extra special, make a little paperboard “newsletter” of sorts to get them up to speed on your wedding. Talk about how you met your significant other, what the two of you have been up to, some backstory on the location of the wedding, and the like. They’ll feel like you were never apart and that they’re right at home!
Thanks, Mom and Dad
Though they’ll be crying tears of joy, it’s never easy for parents to give away their kids, and you don’t want them to feel left out of your special day. If you feel like getting a little sentimental, attach a note with a special ribbon to personalized wedding napkins for your parents and your new in-laws. It doesn’t have to be over-the-top, but you could perhaps thank your mom for being such a good role model as a wife and mother, and thank your in-laws for raising such an amazing man. It’s simple, but sentimental, and it’ll be a keepsake they’ll never want to get rid of.
For Your Bridal Party
Of course, you’ve probably come up with a special gift to give your bridal party. They’re your best gals and have been with you through it all. But one last, extremely inexpensive treat to make sure they have the night of their lives could be a cheap pair of flip-flops left on their chairs with a tag that says “Dancing Shoes!” This way, even if they’re wearing uncomfortable heels, they’ll have an easy solution and can be out on the dance floor with you all night.
No matter what you do, your wedding will be unique and memorable. Remember not to stress yourself out making sure that everyone is comfortable, because they will be, and they know the day is about you! But if you’ve got a little extra time and want to go the extra mile, this is a way to make sure your wedding is unforgettable for both you and your guests.
