Ever sat and watched a movie, and wondered how much luxury the leading star experiences on a day-to-day basis?
It’s true that many A-list actors and directors, once they’ve finally got that big break, can’t help but make the most of their success, indulging in highly lavish lifestyles. And who can blame them?
Whilst private jets, fleets of Italian supercars, huge yachts and huge properties, complete with multiple tennis courts, garages and, in some cases a helipad, are unfortunately nothing but a pipe dream for most of us, it doesn’t make them any less fascinating.
You’ve probably enviously cast your eye over the speculative pieces in gossip magazines about their latest extravagant property purchases, or found yourself mesmerised by shows like MTV’s Cribs on more than one occasion.
One of the key features of any home, the bathroom is a room most likely to perk our attentions – ‘does Michael Bay really have bathroom suites made entirely using special FX?’ or ‘is the bathroom suite of that Academy Award winning actor as classily designed as you’d think?’
Below we’ve created a guide detailing the luxury bathroom suites of the rich and the famous, from both behind, and in front of the camera:
Twice a winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, Hilary Swank’s bathroom suite is as you’d expect: incredibly classy and very modern. Found in her in Manhattan apartment, the bathroom’s travertine floor and walls were designed by New York-based designer MARKZEFF. The room also features a freestanding bath and a shower room finished wonderfully with tumbled cipollino marble.
Michael Bay’s known for directing loud, action blockbusters, laden with special FX. The bathroom suite of his Miami Beach home is rather more restrained, however. It features a bath cast in concrete, a shower room with a floor-standing pipe shower, and an amazing etched-stone tile finish. And you can’t really get much more luxurious than that.
Ryan Phillippe first came to fame in the late 90s with a run of successful films – I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions amongst them. The bathroom of his Los Angeles home is spacious, with a distinctly far-Eastern theme. Like many Asian bathroom suites, it boasts Shoji screen doors, a glass-fronted shower room and a large bathtub.
A wonderful fireplace, a large spa-style bath, and a highly relaxed atmosphere – it sounds exactly like the type of bathroom suite you’d like to unwind in after a long, stressful day. And it’s exactly what Magnolia star, Julianne Moore has in her Manhattan townhouse. Its design combines traditional features – like the fantastic hardwood floors – with the contemporary straight lines of the bathroom cabinets and spa bath to brilliant effect.
As you could imagine, there are many more fantastic bathroom suites gracing the homes of the world’s famous acting stars. This guide has provided a glimpse into just a selection of them.
If you’re planning a redesign, why not look at the bathroom suites of the rich and famous for more inspiration.
