If you’ve been greeted with high business gas bills again, you may have started to look at what options you have to tackle the problem.
Well, in this blog I hope to offer some advice on the best way for you to go about cutting down on your business gas expenses.
Get Your Office Energy Efficient
There are a number of grants and government schemes out there if you know what you’re looking for so why not try and get your office more energy efficient. This could involve the fitting of wall insulation or possibly even some kind of solar panels or other alternative energy source.
You can then look at the use of radiators in the office, if they are not really in use, do you really need to have them running all day? A quick analysis of your uses should help you see what is what and cut out unnecessary use of heating appliances no-one is actually benefitting from.
Utilise The Technology At Your Fingertips
Technology is great when it comes to monitoring your business energy uses, but before you even get into the tech that can help you cut down on your bills, utilise something you are already familiar with- the Internet – to sort out a few of your business gas issues.
There are lots of things you can do using the Net, from finding a new business gas supplier, to going paperless, certainly the Internet is your friend when it comes to saving money so embrace it.
In the sentence above I discussed the idea of going paperless. If you are not familiar with it, it is as simple as it sounds, with you electing to no longer receive a paper bill, perhaps instead being emailed a statement or sent a PDF. This small change can an effective way of saving money so is well worth looking into, even if it is only a couple of quid here and there.
I also discussed the advantages of scouting around online; this can be another easy money saver as you will often find suppliers have unique Internet only deals. Changing supplier is relatively painless too, as I discuss below.
Finally in terms of technology, if your work premises has some form of thermostats, use them. Many people don’t appreciate the big difference a little change can make, and in terms of thermostats a change of only half a degree less heat can actually save a business a lot of money on its energy bills
Don’t Just Make Do With One Supplier
The problem with a lot of business gas customers (and a lot of homeowners too, truth be told) is the fact that they are set in their mind when it comes to changing gas supplier, for whatever reason many believe there is no benefit to switching provider. In fact, this thought process is totally wrong. There are plenty of deals to be had if you shop around, and by just ‘making do’ with your current provider, you could be missing out on a great deal. Furthermore, actually changing to another provider is pretty easy, although it is worthwhile checking to see what you’ve already committed yourself to in terms of your current business energy plan.
