When you are a child you spend all year waiting for Christmas to come around, but as an adult the stress of organising the holiday can often leave you feeling more frazzled than festive! Luckily, there are some easy ways to reduce the load in December and help you relax ready for Christmas Eve.
Whether you love lists or hate them with a passion, you cannot deny that they can be extremely useful around Christmas time. So before you start your festive preparations get organised with a notebook and pen and starting listing jobs to be completed and presents to be bought. This way, you will know at any given moment exactly what you have left to achieve, preventing you from leaving everything until the last minute- no more panicking on Christmas Eve!
As we sneak closer towards the big day, town and city centres become chock-a-block with hordes of people searching for the perfect present. Avoid the crowds and queues by doing your Christmas shopping at home, from the comfort of your sofa. This has a number of advantages, most notably the chance to find some great deals on the internet that actually save you money. In addition you can get your shopping done whilst the kids are in bed, rather than battling through shops with a screaming toddler in tow!
Leaving all your present wrapping until Christmas Eve is simply asking for trouble. Instead, make it a habit to wrap items the same day as they have been bought, with a post-it note attached to tell you who it is intended for. If you have children you could even get them involved in wrapping presents up- kids love Christmas and will often jump at the task. But if wrapping still leaves you feeling stressed, head to a discount shop and stock up on some gift bags to place the presents in instead- it may be cheating but it can be a great time saver!
Christmas tree Hire
Choosing a Christmas tree, bringing it home in the car, installing it in your living room and decorating it is often a mammoth task. In fact, many families now turn to Christmas tree hire to ease the stress. A quick search online will find you a multitude of companies offering Christmas trees for rent, and they can even be ordered pre-decorated in a colour scheme of your choosing. Along with Christmas trees you could also rent lights, accessories and indoor plant displays. One of the benefits of hiring a Christmas tree is the fact that someone will come and install it for you, so all you have to do is arrange the presents underneath on Christmas day,
Buy, don’t bake
Half the battle at Christmas time is trying to get delicious homemade meals prepared for the whole family. But if your budget allows it, why not take a backseat and buy your food instead of making it yourself? Discount stores, supermarkets and bakeries all have a fantastic and affordable range of Christmas goodies, which you can simply pop into the freezer, fridge or cupboard ready to be open on Christmas Eve. And don’t let anyone tell you that this is a cop-out- they can take over next year if they feel so strongly about it!
